Husbands and Homes

Last Friday, my hard drive met it’s maker. I probably should not even admit this but one of the things I was most upset about was not being able to do last week’s listicle topic, 10 Things Husbands Should Do, an absolutely brilliant topic!

After getting my laptop back on Monday and getting things back up and running, I was at least able to read some of the awesome, funny and extremely creative lists some of you did on the subject.

I guess I’m still not over it because I could not resist doing a little combo list this week of 5 and 5.

5 Things Husbands Should Do

1. Make Saturday runs to Starbucks, even if you don’t want any.
I don’t mind if you sleep in on the weekends but my vanilla latte is one of the things I really look forward to on Saturday mornings, it’s my little reward for making it through another week.

2. Roll up your sleeves and pitch in.
Stop pretending you don’t know how to do laundry or that you can’t cook. Doing some of the hard, not so fun stuff is something I accept as part of my “job” everyday, you can do them too once in a while.

3. Father and son days/afternoons.
Because that kind of one-on-one time makes the toddler feel special, he misses you during the week, it gives me a break and you look even more “super dad” in all of our eyes. I call that a win-win situation.

4. Listen.
I know it probably seems like women talk too much sometimes or you’re tired after work and just want to zone out, but try to understand, you are my lighthouse. You are my life line at the end of a very long day of tantrums, cartoons and never ending demands. Take it as a compliment, I’m happy and excited to see you and you are one of my favorite people in the world to talk to at all.

5. Help keep the laughter and love flowing all around us.
This is the glue when times are tough and reminds us of every good reason we got together and created our beautiful little family in the first place.

I have to say, I actually have a really awesome husband and he’s an amazing father as well. I even dedicated a post to him called Daddy Jedi. (Get it? Daddy Jedi – Mommy Padawan? Any Star Wars fans at all out there? Ok, moving on…)

And now for the main event!

I really love the house we live in now, and not just because our old house was seriously haunted. I’d still love to see a paranormal investigation team spend 24 hours in that place but I guess I’ll save that for another post.

Our current home is one my husband found and I didn’t even want to look at but once I walked in, I immediately loved it and knew we had to live here.
